Moon in Libra

Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin, according to the statements of the artist himself, was born on 1 March 1810. However, according to his baptismal certificate, the date was 22 February.

Looking into the two charts, there is a striking difference between Moon in Capricorn for March 1 – and Moon in Libra for February 22. Can one believe in Moon in Capricorn for the greatest and most tender melodist?

Yet, this is not enough to draw the final conclusion, and we have to look closely at other differences between two charts. The week time distance gives differences in positions of Mercury and Venus. On February 22, Mercury is retro in Aquarius, in conjunction with weird Aquarian Venus. On March 1, Venus is exalted and combust in Pisces, and Mercury is direct in Aquarius.

Chopin’s relationship with George Sand cannot be named a traditional marriage, whether it is Venus in Aquarius or Venus exalted and combust. Mercury may be more helpful, describing his writing work. George Sand wrote the following about his composing manner:

“His creation was spontaneous, miraculous. He found it without searching for it, without foreseeing it. It came to his piano suddenly, complete, sublime, or it sang in his head during a walk, and he would hasten to hear it again by, tossing it off on his instrument. But then would begin the most heartbreaking labour I have ever witnessed. It was a series of efforts, indecision, and impatience to recapture certain details of the theme he had heard: what had come to him all of a piece, he now over-analyzed in his desire to write it down, and his regret at not finding it again "neat," as he said, would throw him into a kind of despair. He would shut himself up in his room for days at a time, weeping, pacing, breaking his pens, repeating and changing a single measure a hundred times, writing it and effacing it with equal frequency, and beginning again the next day with a meticulous and desperate perseverance. He would spend six weeks on one page, only to end up writing it just as he had traced it in his first outpouring.”
Series of efforts, repeating and changing, longing for Harmony. What is that, glamorous Venus in Pisces with methodical Moon in Capricorn (March 1)? Or is it velvety Moon in Libra, full of indecisions and amplified by Rahu, and retro Mercury, writing and re-writing (February 22)?

“Individual manuscripts of his works teem with cancellations and insertions. Multiple autographs of the same composition seldom agree. The texts of editions issued "simultaneously" in different countries during his lifetime frequently diverge. Even after a work appeared in print, Chopin found ways to alter the text of it... When Chopin would make a compositional change in a later manuscript, he often would not return to the earlier sources to bring them into agreement. To complicate matters further, Chopin normally introduced further alterations when he read proofs… Chopin's urge to continue revising resulted in three first editions that frequently differed meaningfully from one another. And these differences filter their way into the performances pianists give and listeners hear by means of modern editions, which tend to choose differently among the welter of variants preserved in the original sources in establishing their texts of Chopin's works. Depending upon which edition they select as a basis for their performance, then, two pianists ostensibly playing the same work can produce very different sounding art works… Not even publication need mark the termination of composition. On some occasions, Chopin would so extensively revise a work after it was published that he would require his publisher to released new impressions of it... many editors and commentators on Chopin have interpreted this pervasiveness as a "problem." They view them as a problem because of the type of solution they seek: simply stated, they wish to find the "authentic" text, the "definitive" version for a given composition. The myriad variants therefore constitute an obstacle that must be hurdled in order for the goal to be reached… in nearly every source he touched, he continued to compose, to revise, to cut.” (Jeffrey Kallberg, see www.chopin.pl)

To me, this description confirms retro Mercury and Moon in Libra. This can also be seen in his teens letters to family, which are joyful and warm (compare with family letters of Lenin - with Moon in Capricorn - which are all about money).

For further check, let’s look at the Moon as the significator of women in Chopin’s life. He was engaged with Maria Wodzienskiej, but the engagement was broken by her parents after one year, due to his poor health and unstable life.

The relationship with George Sand lasted for nine years and ended because of conflict with Sand’s son. Who was George Sand in his chart – Moon in Libra in opposition with Mars or Moon in Capricorn? Her own chart has Sun in Cancer; as biographers say, this 6-years-older lady provided maternal care to Chopin – with her Moon in Aries and Mars on Algol.

Traditional European astrology

Western or European astrology originated in Babylonia and Chaldea around 2000 B.C. Most cultures observe astral omens, but Babylonian religion was particularly celestially based and by 1500 B.C. had collected systematic observations of Venus and other planets. The key invention was the 360 degree Zodiac of 12 signs of 30 degrees each, circa 600-400 B.C., which allowed for precise description of the location of planets and other astrological factors which in turn enabled a complex system of delineation.
This horoscopic astrology diffused to Greece and throughout the Hellenistic world and became part of the science and philosophy of the Roman Empire. The astrology practiced between 400 BC and AD 400 in Europe is known as Hellenistic astrology.
With the fall of the Roman Empire and the onset of the Dark Ages in the 6th and 7th centuries A.D., astrology was preserved in Byzantium and the advanced Islamic civilization of the Middle East. This astrology, enriched by the addition of observations and techniques, including Persian, Syriac and Vedic astrology in addition to Arabic astrology, passed to medieval Europe in the 12th and 13th centuries. There it flourished until the Enlightenment and went of out fashion due to the new materialism and mechanistic philosophies introduced in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. The astrology practiced in Europe between A.D. 1200 and 1700 is known as traditional astrology. Traditional astrology is divided into four main categories:

  • Natal astrology, which examines and predicts events based on a birth chart.

  • Horary astrology, which answers specific questions by looking at a horoscope for the time of the asking of the question.

  • Electional astrology, which picks astrologically auspicious times to take action. Astrological magic makes considerable use of electional astrology to create astrological talismans.

  • Mundane astrology, which uses a variety of techniques to predict events on a national scale or over long periods of history. Mundane astrology also includes weather prediction.

Over the 2,000 year span from the Greeks to the Renaissance astrology exhibited great continuity in technique and philosophy despite some significant changes. The astrology of Europe for the entire period from 1200 to 1700 is referred to as traditional astrology while the first phase, 1200 to 1500, is known as medieval astrology and the terminal phase, 1500 to 1700, is known as Renaissance or Early Modern astrology. The focus of traditional astrology was on outer events, rather than psychology (a science that did not come into existence until the 20th century). By using a myriad of techniques, traditional astrology was able to provide precise, accurate prediction of concrete events.
From 1700 to 1900 astrology was practiced seriously by only a few isolated practitioners and much of the nuance and technique was lost. By 1900 with the renewed interest in the esoteric sciences reflected by such groups as the Theosophists and the magical order of the Golden Dawn, astrology came to be studied again. In its newest incarnation, however, astrology came to be seen primarily as a method of character analysis and psychological insight. The stars and planets provided a map of the psyche which proved very useful for self insight and counseling. Prediction, the raison d'etre of traditional astrology, was dismissed as either impossible, due to the considerable loss of technique or unethical.
What most contemporary astrologers consider to be "astrology" is, in fact, its own distinctive system known as modern astrology. Modern astrology is heavily influenced by psychology, particularly of the Jungian school, and the New Age philosophical outlook. Modern psychological astrology introduced the use of the outer planets, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, asteroids, additional types of aspects and a myriad of techniques using advanced computer software. Modern astrology is excellent for psychological insight, but cannot predict with the precise of traditional astrology.

Moon Sign and Vedic Sign

What is a Zodiac Sign?

Heavenly bodies like earth, sun and moon, revolve around the space. The space in which they revolve around has been split into 12 signs. These are the zodiac signs.

What is a Sun Sign?

Western astrologers primarily base their predictions on the sun sign. Sun sign is the alignment of sun in space with respect to a zodiac sign.

What is a Moon Sign?

While western astrology primarily deals with the sun sign, Vedic astrologers prefer to use the moon's alignment with the zodiac as the primary point of reference before concluding on your natal chart and making a prediction.

Why is Vedic astrology more accurate?

In Vedic astrology the zodiac signs are further divided by the constellation of stars in the respective zodiac signs. There are 27 constellations that are taken into account. The observation of moon's alignment with the constellations produce far better predictive results.

Why Moon Sign over Sun Sign?

Moon deals with mind and psychology so its best way to judge a person. The moon's position always plays a very important role in our life. It has a high influencing power. Based on general experience, it produces far better and accurate results over the western counterpart.

Theory of Karma

Theory of Karma

“All Living Beings have Karma as their Own”

What is Karma ?

Karma in Sanskrit and Kamma in Pali literary means Action. In its general sense Karma means good and bad actions. It covers all kinds of intentional actions whether mental, verbal or physical – Thoughts, Words, Deeds. According to Buddha “Mental volition is what I call Action (Kamma). Having Volition one acts by Body, Speech and Thought”.

Karma is not a moral justice. If one takes it as moral justice, then there is a suggestion that someone is sitting in judgment over beings. There is no one who makes judgments over the doings of beings. There is just the moral law of Karma. Just as Karma is not moral judgment, so it is not reward or punishment. According to the law of Karma, if you do good deeds, you get good results, and if you do bad deeds, you get bad results. However, these good and bad results are not given by anyone and are not given as reward and punishment. Karma is a moral law, which needs no lawgiver. As we sow, so we reap somewhere and sometime, in this life or in future birth. What we reap today is what we have sown either in the present or in the past. Karma is a law in itself which operates in its own field without the intervention of any external, independent ruling agency.

The law, which operates naturally like any other law of Physics. Inherent in Karma is the potentiality of producing its due effect. The cause produces the effect, the effect explains the cause. The seed produces the fruit, the fruit explains the seed; such is their relationship.

In the working of Karma its most important feature is MIND. All our words and deeds are colored by the Mind or Consciousness we experience at such particular moment. When the Mind is unguarded, Speech and Bodily actions are unguarded and when the Mind is guarded, Speech and Bodily actions are guarded. This is very easy to understand all we have to do is to see a person who is heavily under the influence of Alcohol or Drugs and we will understand. As the Mind is the determining factor for Karma it is not possible to “fool the system” by way of false speech or false actions. It is mind that either defiles or purifies one. The Mind in fact is both the bitterest enemy and the greatest friend of oneself.

When a mother tells the child “ Be Good and you will be happy and we will love you. But if you are bad, you will be unhappy and we will not love you” it is the inherent doctrine of Karma that the mother is teaching the child.

Similarity with Physics

It is very similar to the Newtonian laws of Physics where Action is equal to Reaction. The Newtonian law applies in case of Non Living Matter. The law of Karma, which applies to living beings operates on a similar line but in this case it has various different colors and shades also in many instances delayed reactions to actions. Since there are various types of Actions and as a results there are as many types of Reactions. Also there is a varied time delay between Action and it's Reaction. This makes it very difficult for us to understand the Laws of Karma as opposed to the Newtonian Laws of Action equal to Reaction. The law does not depend upon whether you believe in Hinduism or Buddhism or Jainism. They are the religious philosophy, which has tried to explain the law but working of the law is independent of one's belief in the religious philosophy. Just as the Laws of Action equal to Reaction does not hold true only for Christians since the man who discovered these laws was a Christian.

Major events are predestined but interpretation of events is in your hands .

Karma is neither fatalism nor a doctrine of predetermination. The past influences the present but does not dominate it, for Karma is past as well as Present. The past and present influence the future; the past is background against which life goes on from moment to moment, the future is yet to come. Only the present moment for good or for bad lies with each individual.

Just as it was predestined for us to have our son with these disabilities since we had done Bad Karmas in our previous life. But after having a son with so many disabilities how to live the life was very much in our hand. We could have taken a path of heavy negativity towards life and become very resentful or jealous of others who have normal kids. Instead we chose the path of proper understanding as to why we had a son like this and then learnt a lesson from that.

Karma does not necessarily mean past actions. It embraces both past and present deeds. Hence, in one sense, we are the result of what we were and we will be the result of what we are. In another sense, it should be added, we are not totally the result of what we were and we will not be absolutely the result of what we are. The present is no doubt the off spring of the past and is the parent of the future, but the present is not always a true index of either the past or the future – so complex is the working of the Karma. For instance, a criminal today may be saint tomorrow, a good person yesterday may be a vicious one today.

Every action produces an effect and it is a cause first and effect afterward, we therefore can say Karma is the “Law of Cause and Effect”. Throwing a stone for example, is an action. The stone strikes a glass window and breaks it. Breaking is the effect of the action of throwing, but it is not an end. The broken window is now the cause of further trouble. Some money will have to go to replace it, which in turn may cause disappointment since that money was saved to buy some thing else which the owner of the window always desired to buy. This may make one irritable, and if one is not careful one may allow irritability to become the cause of doing something else, which may be wrong and so on and so forth.

How do you account for the unevenness in this ill balanced World ?

This is the only law, which tries to explain the inequalities that exists among mankind.

Why should one be brought in the lap of luxury, endowed with excellent mind, mental, moral and physical qualities, and another in an absolute poverty, in abject misery? Why should one be born a Millionaire or Billionaire and another a pauper? Why should one be a mental prodigy and another an idiot? Why should one be born with saintly characteristics and another with criminal tendencies? Why should some be linguistic, artist, mathematicians and musician from the cradle? Why should others be congenitally blind, deaf and deformed? Why should some be blessed and others be cursed from their birth?

Either there is a definite cause of these inequalities. If there is not, the inequalities is purely accidental or by chance. No sensible person would think of attributing these inequalities to blind chance or pure accident. The nature, which is so well balanced in all the aspect so far known to human beings would leave such a major thing like this on a sheer chance or coincidence? I certainly do not believe this and no person of scientific bent of mind would believe this. Science itself is indeed all against the theory of “Chance”. In the World of science things work in accordance with the laws of cause and effect.

The philosophy of “We the Good Guys and They the Bad Guys” is good for Hollywood / Bollywood movies where good guys win at the end and the bad guy looses like in the James Bond Movies or a usual Bollywood movie. In the real life it is not so simple as White or Black there are various shades of Grey and Theory of Karma explains this. If the reader does not agree with the theory it would be nice to know the other plausible theory, which will explain the whole complex situation that exists in the World around us except of course the theory of sheer chance.

How the difference are being explained in the Theory of Karma.

Why some people have short life

For Example, If the person destroys life, is a killer or a hunter, besmears his hands with blood and is engaged in killing, and is not merciful towards living being, he as a result of his killings will be short-lived. Killing means intentional destruction of any living being which breaths. The wanton destruction of this life-force, without allowing it to run its due course is killing. Plants are not included since they do not possess the mind.

The following five conditions are necessary to complete the evil of killings

  • Living Being
  • Knowledge that it is a living being
  • Intention of killing
  • Effort to kill
  • Consequent death.

The gravity of the evil Karma depends upon the goodness and magnitude of being killed. The killing of virtuous person or a big animal is regarded as more heinous than the killing of a vicious person or a small animal, because greater effort is needed to commit the evil and loss involved is greater. The Man made Laws for Capital Punishment operates on similar type of logic. For Ex. The First Degree Murder, Second Degree murder etc.

The evil effects of killing are : brevity of life, ill health, constant grief due to the separation of loved ones and constant fear.

On the other hand if the person avoids killings, leaves asides weapon and is merciful and compassionate towards living beings, he, as a result of his non-killing will be long lived.

Why some people are sick for long time

For Example, If the person is in the habit of harming others physically with weapon or emotionally as a result of his harmfulness will suffer from various diseases. Also if the persons wishes ill for other people would end up in the same situation. He would have detestable nature beside suffering from sickness.

On the other hand if the person does not harm others physically or emotionally and also not think about harming other and is harmless then he will enjoy Healthy life.

Why Some people or say Many people are poor

When a person steals the inevitable consequence of stealing are poverty, misery, disappointment, and dependent livelihood.

Five conditions are necessary for the completion of the evil of stealing, namely

  • Another's Property
  • Knowledge that it is so,
  • Intention of Stealing
  • Effort to steal
  • Actual Removal

How to be Rich in Next Life

For Example, If a person does not give anything for charity, he as a result of his greediness when born again will lead a poor life.

On the other hand if the person does the charity, he as a result of his generosity when born again will have lots of money. Now the charity is considered not only in terms of amount of money donated but also the percentage of one's wealth being donated. Poor man even though donates a small amount but a large percentage of his wealth will be born with lots of wealth in his next life.

Persons Like Bill Gates or Warren Buffets are not only very wealthy in this life but will surely be very wealthy in their next life due to the fact that they have donated large some of money in this life.

Interestingly if the person after giving charity regrets about giving such charity then in the next life will have money but will not be able to enjoy the money for himself. The money of course he will have but he will not be able to spend. This explains why many rich people who can't spend money on themselves or on others.

Why some people go thru many divorces or do not have happy Marriage

Sexual misconduct is the root cause of divorces and unhappy marriages. Persons who have abandoned their spouses in the previous life or have not been faithful to them invariably go thru the process in this life.

Four conditions are necessary to complete the evil of sexual misconduct, namely

  • The thought to enjoy
  • Consequent effort
  • Means to Gratify
  • Gratification

About Friendship :

Person who has done slandering in the previous life will end up having a situation that he will not have good friends or friends will leave him without any reason.

Four conditions are necessary to complete the evil of slandering, namely

  • Persons who are to be divided
  • The intention to separate them or the desire to endear oneself to another.
  • Corresponding effort
  • Communication

How to be beautiful in next Life

For Example. If a person is wrathful and turbulent or an angry man, irritated by trivial words, gives went to anger, ill-will and resentment, he, as a result of his irritability will become ugly in next life.

On the other hand, if the person is not wrathful and turbulent, is not irritated even by a torrent of abuse, does not give vent to anger, ill-will and resentment, he as a result of his amiability will become beautiful in the next life.

Dalai Lama has explained this beautifully

“Physical body is reflection of the past and Mind is a reflection of the future” .

How to become powerful

For Example, If the person is jealous, envies the gain of others, marks of respect shown to others, stores jealousy in his heart, he as a result of his jealously will be powerless.

On the other hand If the person is not jealous, does not envy the gains of others, marks of respect shown to others, does not store jealousy in his heart, he as a result of his absence of jealousy will be powerful.

The Intelligent or the Wise Person

If the person does not approach the learned and virtuous in order to find out what is good and what is bad, what is right and what is wrong, what should be practiced and what should not be. Due to his sprit of lack of inquiry when he is reborn he will be born ignorant.

On the other hand – if a person does approach the learned and the virtuous and make inquiries in the above manner, he as a result of this inquiring spirit when reborn will be an intelligent person.

To reborn in a High / Rich family

If a person is stubborn, haughty, does not honor the learned people, he as a result of his arrogance and irreverence when reborn will be of low-birth.

On the other hand If the person is not stubborn, not haughty, honors those who are worthy of honors, he as a result of his humility and deference when reborn will be high birth.

This explains why some people are born with a silver/golden spoon and they do not have to struggle so much in this life and on the other hand some people have to struggle all through out their life. For ex. You just have to be born in Gandhi/Nehru family in India and you have a very high probability of becoming the Prime Minister. May be in near future India will see the 4 th Prime Minister from this line of family. This does not mean they are/were not capable in fact as per the theory of Karma they must have done some very strong Karmas as mentioned above so that they are born in this family.

Astrology what is jeeva nadi

Atri Jeeva Naadi

Dynamic Predictions from Maharshi Atri and his consort Anusuya

Introduction

By now the readers of ‘Naadi guru on web.org' web site are aware of the Naadi Predictions. They are astonishing divinations of the ancient sages written on the palm leaf like Agasthya, Vashista, Bhrugu, Shukar, Kak Bhujanda and many whose names we read only in scriptures of Indian literature.

What is Jeeva Naadi?

Jeeva Naadi is dynamic, vibrant and live Naadi predictions, wherein the Maharshi reacts to the needs or problems of a person, as if he himself is present before the seeker. He is reacting to the situation of the happenings on the spot. Thus, it is a very special and precise method.

Maharshi Atri

The present standard system of Naadi predictions is that, the seeker gives the thumb impression as per the gender (who tries to reach the leaf ) and try to reach out to the exact leaf which matches to the description of the seeker. In this system there are chances that one may be lucky to pinpoint the pertinent palm leaf in matter of minutes or some times after hectic search of many hours, one has to go empty handed to try for the next time or to forget it as a bad joke.

“Jeeva or Dynamic Naadi” apparently looks similar in its appearance. But the contents and the method of reaching to the exact matter on leaf differs to a greater extent.

There is a Jeeva Naadi of Maharshi Atri or Atreya and his consort Mahasati Anusuya. Many may not be aware about these personalities as per Puranic legends. Atri and Anusuya was the famous couple, for their penance and powers they had gained by severe Yoga Sadhana . They were tested by the three personalities who were supposed to be the creator Brahma, Vishnu the saviour and Shiva the destroyer. In disguise as hungry and tired pilgrims, the trio made a firm demand for mid day meals immediately; putting a strange and queer condition; that , Anusuya should serve them without cloths, without waiting for the host Atri, who was yet to return from morning rituals, (Anusuya should serve them without cloths.)

Realising that this is a façade to test her, she complied the demand. Not only she turned the trio into infants but also breast fed them. Maharshi Atri was delighted to see the strange sight on return. His wife Anusuya, very fond of children was blessed with three extraordinary children. The trio asked Atri Maharshi to relieve them. However, the couple converted them in an Avatar called Dattatreyaa. Datta means given or presented, traya means trio , Atreya means to Atri family. In short, Avatar of the trio presented to Atri and his consort Anusuya for the betterment of the worldly affairs. The Dattatreya Avatar later on was treated to be the initiator of the Nava Nath - Sampradaya commune of nine Siddhas, Aadi Nath - Primal being Shiva.

The present day person could seek the counsel of Maharshi Atri and Anusuya from three packets of palm leaves. The seeker starts getting ready and instant written answers narrated by the Naadi reader as if the couple is present opposite the seeker.

The procedure

The seeker gets an appointment for the day and time. When called in, the seeker prays for the blessings of the Maharshi. The 12 conches or cowries are thrown for getting the exact leaf. there is another method of arriving to the exact leaf for those who are not physically present and wish to seek the blessings of Maharshi. The person has to tell, any random number from 1 to 108. Based on that number, the reader will reach to the leaf and start narrating the mater pertaining to the question /query. On one occasion in reply to a specific query, Atri Maharshi had suggested this method to get him from far off places in future. The seeker loudly narrates the query, question or requests in his language. The reader understands it with the help of the translator if needed. After turning requisite palm leaves based on the number of cowries falling overturn position, the reading starts.

After reading some sentences from the leaf the reader starts narrating what Maharshi has to say on the posed question. The meaning is narrated in the required language. When the narration is over the seeker could ask next point if needed. Maximum of five questions or points are replied in one session.

The points in written format help to be precise and easy for comprehension. On many occasions, it is observed that the point is further elaborated by the way of discussion between the couple. On occasions on behalf of the seeker, Maata - Mother - Anusuya elaborates the question or some times persuades to (remove) her spouse to provide the solution or remedy out of her concern for the seeker.

While in the session the atmosphere gets surcharged with emotions. It changes in jiffy. Some times laughter occupies the light mood, smile appears on the receiving best compliments from Maharshi. When scolding appears through the reading for the mistakes committed, face becomes gloomy; the tears roll out for regrettable the plight ; on finding solutions to come out of the grim future the heart beats return to normal pace. On some occasions Maharshi himself, with his spouse gets choked up with emotions. They plead for grace of the Almighty - Param Shiva - to pull out of the deplorable state of his seeker. The seeker feels overjoyed when Maharshi himself assures that he will start penance on his behalf. The heart fills with gratitude that in times of difficulties one is not alone. There is some great power to protect us,( guide us if sincerely reach out for the assistance in time What is the meaning of this sentence.. Heart filled emotions, tears in eyes, when all - seeker along with reader and translator - come out, every one goes into exhilarated state of mind for a long long time.

This is only the outline of what happens inside the reading room. One (had ) has to witness it, experience it to get the divine blessings and guidance of spiritually enlightened souls. With the hands folded for prayers, head bowed down with reverence, if one goes to seek blessings, why will he not get the best of the supreme divine?

Note:-

  1. It is requested to seek for your leaf in normal thumb impression manner initially and then seek for the blessings from the Jeeva Naadi any time.

nadi astrology procedure

It believes that the past, present and the future lives of all humans were foreseen by Hindu sages in ancient times. Nadi astrology is based on this.

According to Hindu faith, thousands of years ago sages who had the power to look in the past and future of the entire universe, recorded the future of people who were living and who are going to live, in the form of Tamil verses, as Palm Leaf Manuscripts. There are different schools of thought as to the author of these leaves. They were said to be written down by different Hindu sages, who had divine revelations. Some of the sages include Agasthiya, Brighu, Kaushika, Vyasa, Valmiki and Vasishtha.

Procedure
Usually, the astrologer asks for the thumb impression (right hand for males and left hand for females). The astrologer then searches his repository of leaves for the seeker's classification of thumb print. Finally, the minimum possible set of matching leaves is brought. Every leaf corresponds to some individual and hence will bear the birth and kinship details of its seeker. Once the exact leaf is found, the astrology tells the seeker's name, parents name, spouse name and many other details about his future, since they are all written in the leaf.

Power
It is very powerful and accurate. There is no prediction involved - only translation/interpretaion of what is written on the leaf.

ASTROLOGY CULTURAL SYMBOLS

Meditation

The Indian Rishis attributed great importance to culture and stressed on the need for the development of the inner faculties of a human being. They discovered various methods of feeding, resting and revitalizing the body. After countless years of experience and experiments they developed special systems of exercises for increasing the strength, purity and power of all the faculties of man.

Meditating Yogi

Meditating Yogi

The Rishis claimed that God could be attained through meditation because then the mind eventually surrenders to a thought, which is subjected to long periods of concentration without any interruptions. In meditation, the performer attains a state of communion with his deity.

The rishis also preach that for sublimation and evolution, every person must meditate on God at least three times a day. They associate these times with the three times of the Sun. When one gets up from sleep, he must pay homage to his deity or the rising Sun to prepare for the day’s chores. He must respect the mid-day Sun when he prepares to eat meals for his sustenance and the setting Sun to express his gratitude to his Creator for the successful completion of his day’s work. They also proclaim that the most auspicious time for meditation is 3 am every day, because during this time, Mother Nature is the most serene. It is called Brahma Muhurta.

In order to attain spiritual progress, one must try to dissociate from worldly pleasures and attachments. Hence they advocated that meditation is supposed to be performed at a predetermined place, time and location for accelerated concentration. To make this easier they constructed temples, which are highly energized holy places.

In India, saints and sages have been meditating from time immemorial and they can be still found in many holy cities and riverbanks. Most of them give up their food and clothes to attain moksha or everlasting life. Saint Vivekananda is said to have meditated in the Rock Temple in Kanyakumari, the Southern tip of India for peace. Nowadays even common Indians have started to make a beeline to Ashrams which propose to teach them meditation and concentration to attain peace in life.

Yogis or Rishis

Yogis or Rishis

In the Bhagavad Gita, Shree Krishna teaches Arjun that a “YOGI” is one who is joined to God. The path that leads to ideals is that of a yogi who consciously and deliberately progresses towards divinity, which is the purpose of creation. With yogic advance his mind gets purified and he later becomes a Siddha Saint.

An ascetic is one who undergoes voluntary sacrifices to obtain celestial powers, like going without food or clothes for days, standing on ones head for hours together, sleeping on a bed of nails, piercing ones body with sharp objects, etc.

All those who practice meditation, concentration and purification of their mind and body senses are real Yogis. There can be no higher state than this because they are nearer to God by way of worshipping him. In worldly terms they have long hairs, and a flourishing beard and wear saffron or white or black robes.

The Sacrificial Fire

Rishi

Almost most of the Indian religions worship fire as a benevolent element. From time immemorial the sacrificial fire has been an important item of our culture. Every function, ceremony, worship or Puja starts with the worship of the fire in some form or the other. Most of the Indian women perform a small worship of the deity in their house with a special “ARTI” of a small deepam or lamp and incense sticks. The importance of fire worship is mentioned in all the Vedas and religious books.

Some modern thoughts regard the Fire Worship as a primitive practice of campfire. But scientists have established that performing a small domestic “havan” or fire worship with ghee and other specified ingredients produces purifying gases like ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, formaldehyde, butapropiolactone and acetylene which boost up the spirit of the performer and the surroundings.

The Sacrificial Fire

Rishis perform Havan in the ashrams to purify it and give it an atmosphere of good health and prosperity. Fire worship is done in India, for prosperity, health, victory, thanksgiving, good crop, bountiful rain, etc. Twigs and dried leaves of some special trees, rice, wheat, til seeds, guggal, camphor, raisins, coconut, vermilion and turmeric are used for the fire worship. Guggal and Camphor are supposed to be good germ-killers. The burning of these items in the fire along with the addition of pure ghee and the reciting of Mantras produces beneficial gases according to the Rishis. They prescribe the morning or evening as the ideal time for performing this worship. But the Tantriks prefer to perform their Yagna at midnight, nearest to a cremation ground!

Deepam or Lamp

Deepam or Lamp

The Rishis of India worship FLAME or JYOTI or DEEPAM, as being the purest of the pure because it consumes all impurities but yet remains pure by itself.

A lamp is an earthen saucer like container, filled with ghee or butter with a twisted cotton tape immersed in it. It is lighted in every Hindu household and temple in India. The cotton tape keeps sucking the ghee to yield a cool bright light, a flame. In nature the flame is considered to be the source of infinite energy of positive currents. If even number of lamps is kept side by side, they cancel each other’s radiation and become harmful. This explains the use of odd number of lamps for worship.

Great emphasis is also placed on performing “ARTI” in India during worship of any deity. The arti flame is moved around the idol for the devotees to have a good look of the deity, then the devotees put out their palms to receive the arti aura, when their body’s energy rises to the level of the flame according to researchers. The flame is also considered a good germ killer.

Tree worship

Trees are considered to be friends of man as they provide him shelter, food, fuel, and oxygen for good living. In the Rigveda and the Atharveda some trees are deified, as “Vriksha Devta” which are considered to be holy and the people ought to worship them. The Pipal, Banyan, Goolar, Amla, Vilva, Sandal, Neem, Mango, and Babool are the trees that are worshipped in India.

It is said that Gods and the souls of pious ancestors rest on the branches of the Pipal tree and so it is not a domestic tree, instead it is grown in temples and inns where people come to worship. The Pineal gland’s secretions of humans make their brains alert and alive. The chemical found in this secretion is also found in the Pipals’ juice according to scientists and hence it is called the Bodhi Vriksha.

The Banyan tree is of specialty because it sends sap from above to the earth. This resembles the functioning of the world, as it also needs sap or energy for its survival from above, God. Married Hindu ladies worship the Banyan tree for a long and happy married life.

Lord Shiva patronizes the Vilva tree as the only tree, which has three, leaves that sprout together like a trident. The juice of the leaves is a relief to the Diabetics, and the pulp of the fruit is supposed to stop diarrhea. The fruit called bel was a favorite of Lord Shiva.
Another tree is the Asoka tree which is known to relieve the worries of the persons sitting under its shade. Sita is said to have been seated under an Asoka tree in Lanka during her captivity.

The Hindus also worship the Kadam tree, because Shree Krishna used to sit and play under this tree.
Rishi Chyavan patronized the Amla tree for rejuvenating properties.

Tulsi worship

Tulsi worship

According to popular Indian belief, Wherever Tulsi is planted, the place becomes, sanctified as a place of pilgrimage and the sepoys of Lord Death dare not enter that place. In India, the Tulsi is regarded as the most sacred plant. It is a much- branched erect bushy plant of about 4 feet height. Its leaves are aromatic and they have minute glands. The flowers are purple in small clusters and the seeds are yellow are red.

According to scientists the place containing tulsi plant becomes pollution free. The oil of the leaves is capable of destroying bacteria and insects. The leaves have mercury traces and are hence nowadays used in cancer curing Ayurvedic medicines. The juice of the leaves cures bronchitis and stomach upsets. The leaves’ paste cure all skin diseases and the decoction of the leaves cures common cold.

Thick branches of Tulsi are dried and cut into beads to make rosary beads, are else they are made into necklaces which the devotees wear with faith. The ancient Rishis have ordained that if a ghee lamp or incense stick or flowers are not available for performing puja then Tulsi leaves can be used and this explains the importance of the worship of tulsi in India.

Betel Leaf (Paan)

Betel Leaf (Paan)

During worship or rituals, leaves from some select trees are used as essential accessories, but among them all the Betel Leaf enjoys a place of pride in India. In Hindu weddings, a betel leaf is tucked into the headgear of the bride and the groom. The use of betel leaf is considered as a noble trait and on all auspicious celebrations, betel leaf has become a symbolic item denoting freshness and prosperity.

The Skanda Purana says that the Betel Leaf was obtained during the ocean- churning by the Gods. The use of Betel Leaf in India is mentioned in the great epics, The Ramayana and the Mahabharatha as well as in Buddhist and Jain literatures.

Paan has rich herbal properties. It is invigorating and energizing, a killer of germs and bacteria and an eliminator of cold. Before eating a paan, the stalk has to be cut, the edges have to be trimmed and the veins have to be scrapped because they may damage the brain. There are whitish and blackish betel leaves. The black variety is said to be constipative and the white one eliminates cold and is a digestive.

Coconut (Nariyel) in rituals

Coconut (Nariyel) in rituals

In India, for success and prosperity on all occasions, the beginning is done with the breaking of a sanctified coconut. All religious functions and rituals start with the worship of the coconut since it is regarded as the symbolic GANESH, the deity who helps in the successful completion of any work undertaken.

Sage Vishwamitra is said to be the creator of coconut. Its hard kernel inspires one to do hard work for attaining success. People get strength and improved eyesight by eating the kernel. The sick and the elderly find its water nourishing and ladies apply its oil for luxurious hair. It has glucose, phosphorous and carbohydrates in good measures and so it is good for Diabetics. Germs can’t penetrate its hard kernel so it remains intact for months together.

Ancient Indian doctors used to burn its outer shell to prepare tooth powder, eyebrow creams and ointments for burns. Every inch of the coconut plant is very beneficial to humans. Hence Indians consider it a good omen to receive or give coconut fruits as gifts. It is also called Shreephal because it denotes prosperity.

Lotus Flower

Lotus is a very important symbol of Indian cultural heritage. It is mentioned in all the Hindu scriptures because it is very sacred to the Gods. God Brahma and Buddha are depicted as seated on a Lotus flower. Lord Vishnu holds a lotus in one of his hands and Goddess Lakshmi also holds a Lotus flower. The Lotus is an appropriate symbol of detachment from the surroundings, be it good or bad.

Lotus Flower

The Indian Poets have used the Lotus as a simile in praise of the feet of the Gods and Goddesses. All the Vedas sing in praise of the Lotus. In the Yogasastra, the six Chakras are depicted with the Lotus as the base. According to the Mahayana sect of Buddhism, all the souls originate from the Lotus.

In India, the Muslim rulers used the Lotus in their architecture, an influence of Hindu architecture since the Muslims have no special significance for the Lotus. The dome of the Taj Mahal resembles an upside-closed lotus, resting on its petals. The lotus blooms with the morning light and closes its petals when the sun goes down. So the sages accepted lotus as a unique symbol of unfolding the spiritual qualities of man with the advent of light.

AUM

AUM

According to the Hindu Yogis in India, inhaling air generates SH-Sh sound while exhaling is associated with HM-HM and enunciated that SOHAM is the keynote of life. Later they discovered that sound O was guttural and sound AM touched palate and so told that AUM encompassed man’s total existence.
The Aum sound is vibrating throughout the cosmos and it has three manifestations; those of creations, preservations and destruction. Every time a person utters any letter or word, he puts into operation any of these three virtues of AUM. The vibratory cosmic energy- AUM does not maintain by food alone, but man’s body battery. This invisible power flows through the human body and controls its actions when uttered properly with reverence and concentration.

Tilak or Dot or Bindi

The starting point of all shapes and forms is a point. Geometry describes the point as one, which has no dimensions, but it still exists. A dot or point is the seed of language expressed by sound, so it is the finale of the highest attainment.

A dot or point is the abode of Shiva and Shakthi. Ancient Indian had an indomitable urge to communicate his thoughts and so symbols were developed. Similar group of men and women adopted different types of Tilak or linear symbols, which were further, segregated fro man and woman to wear on their body to denote their sect and ideology.

Naamam

Circular Bindi worn by indian women

Circular Bindi worn
by Indian women

A deep study of human anatomy reveals that the forehead is the best place for applying Tilak. Rishis declared that the junction of the nose-root and the meeting point of the eyebrows is the most sensitive part of the body. The Agya- chakra, or Wheel of wisdom, is located here and so is a vulnerable spot, which must be kept, warm and protected.

The most popular forms used or a dot, or a “U” shape or a trident shape or 3 horizontal lines with a dot at the center called Tripund on the forehead and forearms. The wearers are advised by the rishis to use a mixture of vermillion, lime, turmeric, saffron, musk, agar, sandal and ash for men and sindur or vermillion on their skull-center for the women, to provide warmth to the pineal and pituitary glands located near the Thalamus.

The bindi is declared to be very helpful for the good health of the brain, eyes, ears and the nose because these applications maintain a fine pull on the veins and nerves underneath the forehead, nose-root and forearm’s skin to monitor proper flow of blood. The forebrain controls the decision making part of the brain. In acupressure methods it is considered to be the most sensitive part of the body responsible for alertness and hence the use of Bindi for the forehead is justified.

Swastik

Swastik

Mostly the business community considers the Swastik symbol as the symbol of all- round prosperity in India. The root of SWASTIK is SU+US; SU means benefic and US means existence; so whosoever desires to have glory, prosperity, progress and success is advised to invoke the Swastika Yantra.

The Aryans adopted the Swastik as a symbol for the good of humanity. Then the Hindus added some more arms to the Swastik to denote happiness in married life and worldly successes.

The sides of the Swastik arms must remain on the right side, moving or stationary for positive vibrations and benevolent results. BOVIS is a measure of the energy levels that surround men or materials and the Swastik is supposed to have a formidable energy of one million bovis, but in an inverse direction, the results become negative.

Indian Siddhants say that the center of the Swastik represents the uterus, the origin point of the Universe, the vertical line, Shiva and the horizontal line, the female organ. Their cross forms the origin and evolution of the whole world.

Certain shapes represent deities and when a devotee invokes the deity through the symbol, his thoughts are concentrated and good results are got and one such omnipotent symbol is the Swastik, which is widely used in India.

Rudraksha Mala

It is a common sight in India, to see saints and rishis wearing small ball-like seeds in a string around their neck. They are called Rudraksha Mala and a visit to any holy place in India, can take you to shops that sell these bead-necklaces in all colors and prices.

Rudraksha Mala

Rudraksha is the seed of a fruit of a rare species of a tree found in Karnataka and in the Konkan area. It is roundish with a cellular demarcation and has a central bore. Each seed may have 1 to 21 cells and the seeds with one cell are of great sanctity value. The most common variety is the seeds with 5 cellular divisions.

It has a beneficial property of attracting healthy vibrations and so saints and rishis wear them as necklaces. The Lord Shiva is also found to wear one such thing in his neck. A real rudraksha seed shall sink in water and so fake ones can be differentiated easily.

Its aromatic property helps a devotee to get into deep meditation easily. Rudraksha seeds are not supposed to be rubbed often because then they lose their charm properties. It should be worn on the neck, threaded by gold, silver or woolen threads, so that it remains in gentle touch with the body, which increases the body’s immunity.

The rudraksha thread protects the wearer from lightings, accidents and brings him good luck according to Indian saints and rishis. People with positive currents of energy should wear it on their right hand and those with negative energy current on their left hands, for good results.

Sacred Thread

The Brahmanas and some sects of artisans wear the Sacred Thread as a symbol of their holiness when compared to the common man. They are considered to be next to God. In India, a tuft of hair in the back of the head, a rosary in the hand, a prominent bindi on the forehead and a sacred thread along the torso are considered to be some of the important symbols of holiness among the Hindus.

The sacred thread consists of hand -spun yarn. Three equal lengths of the yarn are twisted to form one length. After a sacred thread ceremony the person is given a sacredness status. He is supposed to wear it as a cross-belt on his body.

The three twisted yarns represent the Trinity of God, or the three virtues of life namely; pious living, imperious living and vicious living. The 3*3 also represents the Navagraha or the nine planets and also the nine outlets of the human body. The threads are bright white and so they also add to the aura and moral strength.

In India, the Zoroastrians wear such a sacred thread around their lumbar region. According to their belief, the belt keeps their lumbar region vertebras in position and gives proper alignment.

Kalash (Sacred Pot)

Kalash (Sacred Pot)

Kalash

In ancient times, the rishis of India placed copper pots atop temple pinnacles to escape the calamity of lightning. But fungus developed on the pots and reduced their efficiency and so they gold-enameled the pots with gold.

The Rishis wanted water all year round to quench their thirst, so they developed a container- a Kalash and they were happy that they could enshrine God Varun in the Kalash and thus the worship of Varun started with the worshipping of the Kalash. The Rishis also ordained that every ceremony should start with the worship of the Kalash.

According to Indian mythology, The mouth of the Kalash represents Vishnu, the throat - Lord shiva, Lord Brahma adores the base and at the belly all Goddesses are established and thus in a small pot they established the presence of all gods and goddesses.

In India, on most of the ceremonial occasions, a pot filled with clean water, with fresh mango or betel leaves placed at the mouth and a coconut placed on top is kept near the entrance. It is also decorated with Swastik symbol and other ornamentations.

Ringing of bells

Ringing of bells

Centuries ago in India, the Gurukul system of education- residential Institutions for overall development of students, were situated in forests away from the crowded townships. There the insiders were constantly under beastly attacks and so bells were rung on the sighting of deadly animals to frighten them off. The metallic sounds were also found to attack bacteria and germs through scientific research.

To create very effective sound, a bell was found to be the best device since when it is made of 8 different metals, it produced the most resounding echo, which can spread in all directions. In India, regular rhythmic ringing of heavy and light weight bells has been made compulsory during the time of worship in most of the temples, so as to invoke the deity’s blessings.

Research has proved that that the sound of a standard bell can cure physical as well as mental diseases. Loud sounds of the bell or the blowing of the conch, gets 27 cubic feet of air in an area of 1220 sq.ft, purified and it is taken to be the most economical way of purifying the environment.

For worship, blowing of conch, a type of shell, bells of different dimensions, the beating of metallic-alloy plates, Jhang, Majira, etc are very common in India.

Conch shells (Shankh)

Conch shells

The Conch Shell or Shankh was obtained as a gift from the ocean - churning by the Gods. The spiral formation inside the conch -shell is symbolic of infinite space. All naturally occurring conch shells yield cosmic sounds, which can be heard by holding the shell close to one’s ears.

God Vishnu accepted an attractive conch shell with its mouth on the right side, and another with a left-side opening adores the hand of Goddess Lakshmi.

The blowing of the conch shell heralds important events and auspicious celebrations and calls all the faithful for the worship of the deity. On the battlefield of Kurushetra in the Mahabharatha, every morning the blowing of the shankh, symbolized the starting of the war. Every great King and Army- Chief had his own precious Shankh or conch shell.

Vastu shastra - Indian astrology

(For more imformation click on the link)

In India, Vaastu Shastra, the details about the different dimensions of buildings, temples, forts, townships, houses, etc is a great emerging science in the field of architecture. Architecture is not just raising buildings to limit space according to Indian Rishis. It is a form of science where, constructions are made in harmony with the laws of Creation. A particular proportion of materials, a combination of colors, a particular timing to start the construction is some of the things to consider giving good benefits for the occupier of the construction to be erected.

The principles of VastuShastra are based on physical geography, rainfall, isobars, winds, ocean currents, natural vegetation, climate, water resources, mineral resources, population, etc. Vastu Shastra is basically the utilization of living space so that it harmonizes the person with the elements by working in harmony with the earth’s magnetic currents.

In India, as per Vaastu Shastra, North and the East are the most auspicious. Plot of square, rectangle or trapezium can be selected but not a triangular one as this may block the energy waves. Northeast is the air zone, so the drawing room can be located in this direction. The main entrance or water resources of a house can also be located in the North- East Zone. The South- East side is dedicated to fire, so kitchen can be in the Southeast or Northwest but not in the Southwest as this may bring sickness to the members.
According to Indian Rishis, the following of the Vaastu Shastra principles brings good-fortune or at the least averts any bad-luck for the occupants.
